A slipping clutch is the friction disc wearing thin. Symptoms appear gradually but accelerate once they start — replace before you're stranded.
In our network we see these in roughly this order. Diagnostic comes first — never authorise a repair without a written diagnostic report.
Most common. RPM rises faster than speed under acceleration. Replace clutch kit (disc + pressure plate + release bearing).
Rear main seal leak dripping onto clutch. Both must be fixed together — ignoring oil leak shortens new clutch life.
Pedal feels different + slipping. Always replaced as a kit with the disc.
Pedal feels soft or sinks. Cheaper fix (₹2,500-7,500) than full clutch replacement.
Days to weeks — but slipping accelerates. Once you smell it (acrid burning), replacement is urgent.
Standard car: ₹12,000-28,000. SUV / luxury car: ₹25,000-65,000. Always get a clutch KIT (disc + plate + bearing) — replacing parts individually means another teardown soon.
Press accelerator, RPM rises, but car doesn't accelerate as fast as it should. Most noticeable in higher gears uphill.
