How to Market Your Garage Business in 2026
Proven strategies to get more customers for your auto repair shop — from Google and WhatsApp to reviews and referrals.
Start with Google Business Profile
Your Google Business listing is the highest-ROI marketing channel for any local garage.
- Complete every field: name, address, hours, phone, website, photos
- Add 20+ photos — exterior, reception, workshop floor, team members
- Respond to every review, good or bad, within 24 hours
- Post weekly updates (offers, tips, before-and-afters) to stay active
- Enable messaging so customers can WhatsApp you directly from Google
Get Reviews Systematically
Reviews compound. One garage with 200 reviews will outrank one with 10, even if the ratings are similar.
- Send a review link via WhatsApp immediately after every completed job
- Automate this with Autodots — it sends the review request automatically
- Target 10 new reviews per month in the first year
- Never incentivise reviews directly — it violates Google policy and customers can tell
- Respond to negative reviews calmly and offer to resolve — it shows maturity
WhatsApp Marketing for Garages
WhatsApp has 80-90% open rates in India and the Middle East — far higher than email.
- Send service reminder campaigns to customers due for their next service
- Share tips and car care advice that provide value, not just promotions
- Offer exclusive discounts to your loyal WhatsApp contacts
- Use Autodots to segment customers by last service date and vehicle type
- Keep promotional messages under 20% of your content — be useful first
Referral Programmes
Word-of-mouth is still the most trusted form of marketing for auto repair.
- Offer a discount to the referring customer when a new customer books
- Make it easy to share — a referral link customers can send via WhatsApp
- Thank referrers personally — a handwritten note goes a long way
- Track referrals in Autodots to see which customers are your best advocates
