A clean, lubricated, properly-tensioned chain extends sprocket life by 2-3x. Every 1,500 km or after every wash, your chain needs attention. Most workshops do it in under 30 minutes.
Remove old grime with chain cleaner, scrub between every link, dry thoroughly.
Motul, Repsol, Wurth chain lube — the kind that does not fly off after 50 km.
Set chain tension to manufacturer spec. Loose chains derail; tight chains snap sprockets.
Check chain stretch and sprocket teeth. If chain is more than 1% stretched, it's time for replacement.
Every 500-1,000 km or after every wash/ride in rain. A dirty chain wears 4x faster than a clean one.
When the chain stretches more than 1% (workshops measure this with a gauge), or when sprocket teeth are visibly hooked. Replace chain + sprockets together for best results.
Quick service that saves expensive sprocket replacement later.
