A whine from the transmission is a bearing or gear telling you something is wearing. Fluid service first; rebuild only if necessary.

Most common. ATF service (₹3,500-12,500) often quiets the whine entirely.
Whines under load. Diagnosis: pressure test. Repair: ₹15,000-45,000.
Whine changes with vehicle speed (output) or engine speed (input). Bearing replacement requires teardown.

New ATF is bright red. Burnt ATF is dark brown to black with burnt smell. Burnt ATF + whine = expensive ahead.
Not always — sometimes just a worn pump bearing that lasts another 50,000 km. Diagnose with pressure test before assuming the worst.
